Apathy has been increasingly recognised as a distinct negative symptom dimension of schizophrenia and a robust predictor of current psychosocial functioning independent of co-existing cognitive deficits. Apathy Evaluation Scale self-rated has been shown to have good psychometric properties and has been used worldwide to evaluate apathy in schizophrenia. This study aims to develop a translated Chinese version of Apathy Evaluation Scale self-rated and validate it with a sample of local Hong Kong patients.
