Comorbidity between PTSD and Depressive Symptoms in the Community

Despite PTSD and depression have been postulated to have distinctive pathways (e.g., fear-related and loss-related circuits), high levels of comorbidity between PTSD and depressive symptoms have been observed. Multiple explanations have been offered, such as 1) a result of nosological artefact, 2) shared etiological factors between PTSD and depression, and 3) shared neurobiological pathways. We explore these issues with a community sample in today's context.
