Abstract:
Epidemiological studies have linked certain behaviours, disorders, and environmental exposures in parents to psychiatric outcomes in their children. However, these studies can be biased by the influence of genetic factors shared between parents and offspring. In this presentation, I will review insights from genetically-informed studies on parental influences towards offspring mental health and, discuss recent work from our lab examining parental genetic and environmental effects on offspring depression.
