Abstract:

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) are good starting points for investigating the etiology, relationships, and individuals' genetic risk of psychiatric disorders. We developed a statistical model and computer program to assist GWAS design, and applied this tool to schizophrenia and major depressive disorders to explore the future behavior of GWAS outcomes as sample sizes increase furthe. Some challenges of translating genetic study results to clinical utility will then be discussed.
